1G technology which evolved in 1980s was restricted to a single country. 2G technology evolved during 1990s and further evolved into 3G during 2000s. 3G provided users ability to send / receive emails, browse web, watch streaming videos, and do audio/video conferencing. 4G which emerged post 2010, took the mobile technology even further with speeds up to 100 Mbps and customized personal services, mobile multimedia and global mobility support at an affordable cost.
